Don't come to church
on June 15th!! (You don't hear me say that a lot). Come to East
Cobb Park, where we will worship together at 10:00 am, sing both
hymns and praise songs, take communion, and have a church picnic to
follow. Bring your own food and chairs, and bring a little extra to
share.
Why are we
doing such a thing? Because we are serious around here...serious
about FUN! One of my favorite quotes is C. S. Lewis', "Joy is
the serious business of heaven."
We are the
church. The ransomed people of God. The only people on earth who
will not suffer the eternal consequences of their sins, but stand
redeemed by the work of Christ on the cross, stand
justified by simple faith and trust in Him, and stand to
receive the eternal inheritance of the children of God. A people
like that ought to be happy. And they ought to have fun! So we do.
Come worship
outside together. Come sing, and come have communion, and come
play!
Yours in
Christ,
Tim
PS - Also, I
sure hope somebody brings some pie. The world needs more pie.
"Then he commanded them all
to sit down in groups on the green grass."
-Mark 6:39

Seminary
Intern - Matthew Gramling
I am currently
a rising senior (third-year student) in the Masters of Divinity
program at Princeton Theological Seminary. I was born in rural northwest
Georgia and grew up in a small United Methodist church in the
rustic village of Cassville. I was blessed to be surrounded by a
committed family in Christ as I matured, but until the age of
fifteen I was only moderately knowledgeable about the faith and not
particularly engaged except on a moralistic level. By the profound
manifestation of God's grace and providence, all of this
changed when in 2004 I underwent a radical conversion to faith in
Christ. This faith was accompanied by a surprising and profound
call from God into ministry, particularly in the context of the
local church.
At the age of
seventeen, I was called up by the current pastor to serve as a lay
leader and worship leader. I ministered in that capacity for three
years and was immensely blessed with many moving experiences in
serving the needs of the congregation. In 2007 I graduated high
school and the weeks before I left for college, the church laid
hands on me and commissioned me like a missionary, which is
essentially how I lived for the next four years.
I went to
college at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta and lived a remarkable
life of Christian witness and discipleship as a college minister
with the local Christian fellowship. After graduating from college
in 2011, I took a year off in order to reflect upon the nature of
my calling before coming to Princeton Theological Seminary in the
Fall of 2012. My current direction is to hopefully seek out a
doctoral program in theology and pursue a vocation as a
"pastoral professor" at a seminary or university, or as a
"pastor-theologian" in the context of a local
congregation.
Children and
Youth Summer Intern - J. C. Russell
I am 20 years
old and from Memphis TN. I love the Lord and consider myself a slave
of Christ. I heard the call to become a pastor when I was still in
high school but ran from it until about a year ago. I eventually
began studying the Bible and embraced God's will for my life
instead of trying to change it. I cannot wait to see what God has
in store for this summer. I know that God is alive and moving in
this congregation and I can't wait to help the youth grow in their
relationship with Christ.

blessing! Contact Hubie Mann to sign-up.
Summer Adult
Christian Life Training
During the

help! We have jobs for kids to grandparents! If
you are in high school and need service hours, we are glad to help
you out! Questions? Contact Karen Miller 678-522-5267 or karenmiller0@gmail.com.

collection bin outside the narthex and in the box labeled
"Costa Rica" in the CLC lobby. Thanks so much for joining
us as we follow God's command to love one another. Please contact
