EASTMINSTER PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

About Eastminster

On October 1, 1972, a group of about two dozen sought the Lord and gathered for worship in a living room asking if God wanted them to plant a new church.  They met under the name “MINTEC” the Ministry to East Cobb.  The Lord blessed the mission, and within a year the church was given a charter with the Presbyterian Church.  We took the name “Eastminster”—common to Presbyterian heritage, and also still defining our mission to bring the love of Jesus Christ to our East Cobb community, and beyond.  The building was initially on Johnson Ferry Road right next to the current Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, when that single lane highway took you past farm after farm!  We left that property when things got too crowded and were able to relocate here, opening the new sanctuary in 1994.

Our church has grown with the area, and at just around 600 members, we feel that we are large enough to provide rich opportunities for ministry and discipleship, but still small enough to genuinely know one another.  The Lord guides and directs our ministries, as He has done now for over 40 years.

It is impossible to measure the benefits for the Kingdom of God born out of that initial vision in 1972.  Countless new believers have professed faith in Jesus Christ.  Families have been nurtured in faith, and children baptized and raised in the knowledge of the Lord.  Mission trips have responded to emergencies and carried us into needy places.  Missionaries have been sent, as well as ministers called, trained, and sent to serve their own churches.  Week by week we worship the Lord, asking God to use us as an outpost to reach the world He loves.

Eastminster is a congregation of the ECO: A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians within the Presbytery of the South and is committed to the values and beliefs of the Protestant Christian doctrine.

Our Mission

Our mission is to bring people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, as He is revealed through the Scriptures and the Power of the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19-20, II Corinthians 5:17-21).

Core Values

Our biblically-based Core Values represent who we are as a church, address our actions as a church, identify the things to which we devote ourselves,  illuminate our principles and shape our ministry and culture.  These Core Values are the foundation of our mission, our church family and pastoral leadership, as well as a welcoming invitation to our community.
