Congregational Care/Assimilation Team
   
Mission Statement

We are a church that cares by providing a nurturing environment for our members as well as an offering a compassionate heart to members in the community.
 
 

The task of the Congregational Care / Assimilation Team is to see to the caring ministry of the church as it relates to its own members.  The responsibilities of each team are below.

 
   
Assimilation  
Assimilation of Members - Susan Welborn
Checks on new members of the congregation to find out if they have found "their place" and feel comfortable with groups and/or classes they may be attending.
 
Church Pictorial Directory
Every other year, a team will contact a company to take and publish the congregation's pictures. At that time, several dates will be selected for the photographs to be taken.
 
Nametags Ministry - Janie Bunch
Monitors church members, visitors and children's nametags.
 
Photography - Dick Smith
Photos are taken of all special events and assist pastors or others in capturing the special moments in the life of the church.
 
Post Cards - Ken Jacquot
Sends post cards to those who have not attended church for at least a month or more and notifies the church office of any change of addresses.
 
Small Group Ministry - Ken Jacquot, Paul Goldberg, Don Fifield, John Speiser
Encourage members to join together and form supportive relationships. At present time, there are 8 small groups and approximately 100 participants.
 
   
Congregational Care
Barnabas Fund – Eddie Capparucci and Janet McIntire
Special funds are provided to members of our church family who are in need of financial support, due to illness, unemployment, or some other crisis situations. As a church we are supportive to those of the “household of faith” who are in distress, and have the Barnabas Fund available to assist them.  The Pastor and Moderating Elders of Congregational Care, and the Church Financial Secretary will maintain a confidential record of all recipients and disbursements filed by recipient’s name, date and nature of aid.
College Care Packages – Janet McIntire
Twice a year the college students who are starting finals are contacted by the Congregational Care / Assimilation Team. A card of encouragement and a Starbuck’s Coffee Shop Gift Card are sent to college students at their school address.
Health Care Ministries – Kathy Wolfram
The team is available to develop a health information service that will support all areas of health related issues at Eastminster. They will assist in health care referrals,
health monitoring, screening, health education and coordination of volunteers.
Home Communion/Ministry to shut-in members – Eddie Capparucci & Janet McIntire
Home Communion is administered to those who are shut-ins because of inability to navigate under their own power and attend church and it’s functions, is ill, is in or has just come from the hospital, rehabilitation facility, or assisted living facilities, etc.
Memory Plaque – Ken Jacquot
Names of church members who are deceased are added upon their death.
Pastoral Care - Janet McIntire & Eddie Capparucci
Make sure that home and hospital visitation by elders and other laypersons occur.  The office is notified of any known needs or concerns that the pastors should to be informed about.
Shepherds – Snookie Goldberg
This team contacts each church family through “Shepherds” on a monthly basis. They share church news, and upcoming events with those they call. Shepherds find out if there are any joys, needs or concerns they would like to share, or if they need a call or visit from a pastor.
 
Spiritual Treasures – Sarah Nielsen
Those 70 years and older receive a monthly visit, call or contact to find out about their personal life, their joys, hobbies, about family, etc. This is strictly a friendly visit to get to know the “Treasures” in our church.
 

Stephen Ministry – Emily Gilbert & Lessie Smith

A system for training and organizing laypersons for a caring ministry in and around our congregation.  It must be and remain at all times, a confidential ministry.  The Stephen Ministers are assigned to care receivers by the pastor or one of the Stephen Ministry leaders.  There is ongoing support for the caregivers as well as the care receivers. If you would like to talk to a Stephen Minister who "cares", please call 770-977-2976, extension 13.
 
Tape Ministries – Dick Smith
Record the weekly services and make them available to visitors or members of the Congregation. We also record Memorial Services, weddings and special functions upon request. Recordings available to shut-ins upon request.
