A Guide to Short Term Missions-9:00AM

A Guide to Short Term Missions.  We will explore how to prepare for a mission, question ourselves whether or not we have the gift to be a missionary, look at the monetary costs and how to prepare for culture shock.  This should be a fun and informative class as we examine our role in the mission statment of our church, that is..."Building Christian Lives."

Homebuilders-9:30AM

Homebuilders is an exciting and contemporary Sunday study class taught by Dan Collins. The class will be studying "The Owners Manuel for Christians" by Chuck Swindoll. The book is readily available from Amazon and it's network of affiliated dealers. This class will meet at 9:30 AM on the second floor of the CLC in Room 203.

Faithbuilders-10:00AM

Faithbuilders bible study class will present a study of The Old Testament. Our DVD 24 lectures will be given by Professor Amy-JIll Levine, who is a professor of New Teatament studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School where she is director of the Carpenter Program in Religion, Gender and Sexuality. She earned her M.A. and PhD in Religion at Duke University. Faithbuilders Class meets in room 202 on the second floor of the Christian Life Center at 10:00AM. You may register to attend this class by calling Allison Scholtens or the church office.

Bible 101-10:00AM

Nooma Class-11:15AM

This is a video based class facilitated by a team of teachers. Rob Bell is a pastor and speaker who has created a series of presentations on DVD titled Nooma. The DVD and discussions are centered in scripture and address real life situations. DVD presentations are about 20 minutes in length and lead into a planned discussion guide. The class will meet at 11:15 AM on the first floor of the CLC in the youth room.

 

Children's and Youth Sunday School

We are blessed with an abundance of young people -- from age three through senior high -- who fill our Sunday School classes, and equally blessed with a dedicated group of Sunday School teachers to lead children in worship. Classes take place each Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A “Hall Guide” will be happy to help you find the classroom for your particular age group, or you may consult the Classroom Layout located in the narthex.

Preschool-10:00AM

This class is designed to teach three and four year olds foundaitonal concepts about God such as His nature and how the Bible teaches us about Jesus and God, and how we are to be. This class will be using the HeartShaper curriculum. It uses hands-on activities and projects to teach kids the Bible stories and make them come alive. This class will be meeting in Classroom 1 and is taught by Janet McIntire, Flo Sharp, and Joyce Coleman. 

Pre K/Kindergarten-10:00AM

Here, children are taught Christian concepts and will come away with a basic understanding of baptism, communion, and the story of creation, while continuing to build upon those Christian ideals introduced in preschool. They will learn Bible stories that teach about Important leaders of the Bible, Patience, and ways to worship using the HeartShaper Curriculum. This class meets in Classroom 4 and is taught by Sara Dilworth, Sara Dow, Cindy Moran, and Vicky and Bobby Ryder.

1st & 2nd Grades-10:00AM

In this class, continued emphasis is given to those who Jesus was, and what he has done for each of us. Children are also instructed as to the basic parts of the worship service and what it means to worship God. They will learn all sorts of Bible stories using the HeartShaper curriculum. The teachers for this class are Mike & Jennie Adams, Sally Brentzel, Karrie Willard, and Janie Bunch and it will be meeting in Classroom 208, upstairs in the CLC.

3rd - 5th Grades-10:00AM

This class seeks to expand children’s knowledge by studying many Bible stories from the Old and New Testament. This group will also begin memorizing Bible verses. They will use the HeartShaper curriculum. This class is taught in Classroom 209, upstairs in the CLC and the teachers are Ellen Foster, Mark & Sheri Sphar, Ashley & Todd Mordecai, and Karrie Willard.

Middle High/Senior High-11:15AM

This class begins at 11:15 in the Youth room. The class will join with the adults to study to Nooma video series.  Once the video is complete, Tom Schuette will separate the youth from adults and lead the youth in a deep Biblically-based discussion.

Children's Church-11:15AM

This class is taught by parents at 11:15AM.  This class teaches basic concepts that preschoolers should know--God loves them, simple Bible stories,etc.  Crafts, games, and snacks are essential to this class.  Your child may go directly to classroom #1 in the old building at 11:15AM or be brought to the class once the children's sermon is finished in the traditional service.

Kids Bible Class-11:15AM

This is a class taught by Allison Scholtens at 11:15AM in classroom #7 in the old building.  This is for 1st-5th grades only.  They will study various Bible stories while engaging in videos, games, crafts, and FUN.  Your child may go directly to the classroom at 11:25AM or be brought to the classroom after the children's sermon in the traditional service.
