The Art Ministry: The Tuesday Art group is meeting weekly to paint / draw / fellowship / network together. You can sign up right here and since our chef needs time to prepare the food, all reservations are needed by Tuesday at noon. We hope to see you on Wednesday night. Classes start Aug. 9, so reserve space for your child now. Registration forms are in the church office. Tours available upon request. Questions? The Library Will Now Be Open anytime to read, check in/out a book. It is there for you to enjoy. Keep a look out for information regarding weekly kids story time and book clubs. Volunteers needed: The Mission Team serves dinner on the 9th of each month at MUST Ministries. We need 3 or 4 volunteers to sign up for one night. Food Items Needed for MUST: Cereal, peanut butter, jelly, soup, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, canned meat, canned fruit, canned pasta, canned vegetables, canned and dry beans, macaroni and cheese, baby food, rice, boxed meals. Pick up a few extra cans or boxes on your next trip to the grocery store. Please leave in the box in the alcove and we will make sure they are taken over to MUST Ministries. Church Office will be closed Monday, Sept. 6th for Labor Day observance. Genesis Circle will meet on Sept 9th at 7:00 pm in the Parlor. Please come and join us for fellowship and Bible study. Spunky Spirits will kick off the fall season on Thursday Sept. 9th. at 11:00 am at the home of Karen Jones, 126 Newcastle Walk, Woodstock (678-445-8080). We will be distributing our study guides for the year, have a brief business meeting and then enjoy fellowship time over lunch. Please bring a dish to share. Sharin 'N Carin Craft Circle: Will meet Monday, Sept. 13th, in the Youth Room, CLC from 10-1. This will again be a "Sit and Stitch". We will continue to work on knitting hats/mittens/scarves for MUST as well as baby booties for Cobb Pregnancy. You can bring your own yarn and Knifty Knitter frames (instruction provided). For those interested in working on baby booties, bring either size 6/7 needles and sport weight yarn or size 8 needles and worsted weight yarn (yarn should be gender neutral). We will be studying Beth Moore's "Esther - It's Tough Being a Woman". Glenna Sullivan will be leading us in Part 1 (Chapters 1 - 27) of our discussion of the book, Some Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. Pat Provan will be providing our devotional and Leigh Sain will be providing some light refreshments. Child care is available. We will be collecting donations of gift cards to a store/restaurant of your choice. We will be making a Gift Card tree to be donated to the Fall Festival's Silent Auction. This group is led by Allison Scholtens and meets weekly at 10am. Bible study begins Sept. 22nd. We will have a planning session and perhaps a short project for our first meeting. Mark your calendars for a Holiday Luncheon at the Conkrights on Dec. 21st. which will also be the meeting for the month. Fall Festival is almost here: Please join us on Sept. 25th and enjoy the day of fun as we give back to our community in response to the many blessings that our church has received. Lecture Series at 10AM: Philosophy, Religion and the Meaning of Life beginning Sunday, October 3rd in Room 202 in the CLC. Our lecturer is Prof. Francis J. Ambrosio, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University. This cousre charts how the question of Life's meaning has been pursued through the ages, highlighting the Western philosophical and religious paths in the search for meaningful living. Part one of this course will trace two parallel but distinct genealogical histories of cultural heredity. One line of social inheritance originates in Greek culture with the figure of Socrates.
