Missions
All Christians are called to be in mission--with their time, their talents and their financial resources. Eastminster encourages it's members to reach out to those in need in our community and in our world. The specific missions supported by Eastminster for 2009 are described below. Additional support and missions are considered as additional funds become available.
The annual mission offering and proceeds from the Fall Festival are used to support Eastminster missions. These funds are dedicated to mission work and funded separately from the general giving fund.
Collection boxes in the Narthex next to the main Sanctuary provide ongoing opportunities for donations of food items for MUST and infant clothing items for Cobb Pregnancy Services. Each of these organizations has ongoing needs.
To assist our adult mission volunteers in defraying the cost of a mission trip, Eastminster offers a scholarship for those who apply. To be eligible you must be an active member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. The offer is available as long as the funding lasts. To date we have been able to honor all applications. Eastminster supports adult mission trips both monetarily and with our time and talents.
To learn more about missions or to become more actively involved, prayerfully e-mail Leslie Michaels.
Mission Survey is Here! (Complete Mission Survey). Eastminster strives to uphold our mission statement, "Building christian Lives,, in the people and organizations we support' our support ranges from the elderly at Presbyterian Village, to college students through CELTIC CROSS and campus crusade, to children through our support of Thornwell and Camp Cherokee.and to infants and toddlers with our support of Cobb Pregnancy Center. We focus on hunger with our support of Emergency Food Baskets, PATH and MUST and we partner with Row and the Carpenters Footsteps for international outreach. we spread the gospel through our support of seminary students and missionaries. We feel God provides the opportunity and means for this support. Your God inspired mission referrals provide the opportunity. Your heartfelt generosity with the annual United Mission Offering, pioceeds from the Fall Festival, and the direct giving of items such as food for MUST, booties for the Cobb Pregnancy Center, and sewing and school supplies for the Carpenter's Footsteps provide the support. Eastminster members have also volunteered their time and talents making sandwiches for the Summer Lunch program' serving MUST meals, picking up food from Panera Bread and delivering it to MUST, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, construction and sewing in Costa Rica. But we are called to do more. God gives each of us a passion, a passion to serve and a direction for that passion. I Peter 4:10 tells us ..Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others." Where is God leading you in missions? Your Mission Team wants to identify where God is calling you and Eastminster. Please click the "Complete Missions Survery" link. The survey contains several simple questions that will help us identify your God given gift and calling to serve others. The insight gained from the survey will help us discern God,s plan for our mission outreach. Please prayerfully consider your God given talents and interest in preparation for this survey.

The Austell facility, Presbyterian Village, is composed of independent living in private residences and apartments, assisted living, a nursing home, and a state of the art Alzheimer's unit. Eastminster donates to the Caring Hands Fund which covers the difference between Medicaid and the per diem fee when a patient's funds have been used up. In all these years no patient has ever been asked to leave due to lack of funds. Eastminster supports PATH both monetarily and with our time and talents. Visit them online at www.path.org.
Youth Mission Trips
Our youth groups participate in a local mission project once a year. In addition they travel over the summer on a mission trip to a depressed area either within the United States or internationally. They usually take one international trip every four years. The youth groups have been to Tallahassee, Washington DC, New York City, and Canada and experienced rebuilding houses damaged by hurricanes, soup kitchens, worked in day cares for low income families, and taught Bible School.
